The story of this cute two-person family started when 20 foster parents rejected a little Alba who was barely 13 days old.
The decision of all of these people not to adopt a special girl made her happy for 41-year-old Italian Luke Trapanski.
When he filled out adoption papers, Luca did not believe that social services could become the legal father of Alba, because in the country he came from, it is not customary for single gay men to obtain custody.
However, because all of these families refused to adopt a child with Down syndrome, and Luca was more than happy that such a child existed in his life, he took Alba and became her legal father.
The moment he accepted Alba Helou in his life, he became the happiest person on earth. Speaking of his daughter and cause, he said he is a very special person because he "destroys stereotypes of parenting, religion and the family."
Their journey has been started back in 2017.
Luca has a heart of gold. Over the years, he has been part of many social service programs and volunteered at various organizations to help people with disabilities find their place in society. Among others, he was part of the A Ruota Libera Foundation, which provided assistance to children with Down Syndrome.
This was one of the reasons that Luca, despite the absence of a partner, wanted to adopt a child with Down Syndrome.
Adoption was a difficult process as adoption agencies favored traditional families over unconventional families.
Luca said: "For me, a handicapped child is not a viable alternative but a conscious choice regarding my calling and my abilities."
We are very happy that the perception of people with Down syndrome is changing and considered a valuable part of society.
As for Lucca and Alba, we wish them all the best that life can bring!
Alba is a happy child with a vibrant personality. She loves being around people and enjoys playing and dancing.
